As the release date for iOS14 approaches, we’re no longer left guessing about what’s included in the new operating system—because it’s been released to public beta testers, we now have a good idea as to what we can expect. Although there’s a lot to love about iOS14 from what we’ve seen so far, these are the features we’re most excited about:
1. A Reinvented Home Screen
Apps are now organized into an app library for a more streamlined experience. At the top of the app library screen is a search box to let you find what you need quickly.
2. Siri Upgrades
Siri won’t take over your full screen anymore; instead, it simply displays at the bottom of the screen, with results showing at the top.
3. Picture-in-Picture for iPhones
Picture-in-picture mode is already available for iPads, but now it’s coming to your phone. This feature allows you to watch a video while texting or sending an email, among other things. Multitaskers rejoice!
4. App Clips
iOS14 introduces a new type of app—the App Clip. These allow you to access specific components of apps without having to download the whole thing, saving you space on your phone.
5. Messages Improvements
Messages will allow you to pin conversations to the top of your stack for easy access. There are also some new features to make group conversations more organized and intuitive.
With these iOS14 features and more, it’s easy to see why this new release is getting so much buzz.
