While Apple’s March 2022 event had some exciting announcements, any news of the upcoming version of the iPad Pro was missing. That means everything that’s circulating about the new iPad Pro series is based on speculation, rumors, and leaks.

One leaker on Twitter said that the new iPad Pro would be released in the fall of 2022. Mark Gurman, a long-time tech reporter, confirmed this rumor in his newsletter. He wrote that the new release will come sometime between September and November of 2022. This schedule falls in line with Apple’s 18-month timeline between releases.

Currently, the 12.9-inch iPad Pro features a mini-LED display, which Apple calls the “Liquid Retina XDR display.” There are contradicting reports on whether the smaller 11-inch iPad Pro will include this display in 2022. Analysts in the business say that because the 12.9-inch version sells well enough and the technology is expensive, Apple probably won’t add the latest display tech to the smaller iPad Pro in 2022.

As far as performance goes, you should expect some upgrades with the 2022 iPad Pro series. In 2021, the iPad Pro line started using the M1 chip that gives them the power of some of Mac’s laptops. There will likely be a more powerful M2 chip in the iPad Pro for 2022, but no specs have been released yet.

Perhaps the most noticeable difference in the 2022 iPad Pro will be MagSafe charging. While it’s not clear how Apple will enable this just yet, industry experts say that it’s all but certain. Plus, the new tablet may even be able to charge iPhones and AirPods from its back.
