Ongoing speculation surrounding the T-Mobile and Sprint merger and whether it is consumer-friendly continues to delay these two companies from combining. Multiple issues involving the marketplace and monopolies also complicate the situation. The FCC signed off on the deal, which normally signifies everything should be a green light to proceed. However, in this scenario, the Department of Justice isn’t entirely sold on the idea and what it means for the future of the industry. In order for the DOJ to sign off on this deal more conditions will most likely have to be met. On the other hand, the DOJ could entirely disapprove of the deal on the grounds of antitrust violations, in which case they will have to sue both companies involved to put a stop to the merger.
