As Apple continues the shift from LCD to OLED displays for their devices, they also plan to phase out of relying on Samsung, their largest rival, as their primary supplier for OLED screens as well. Most people are unaware of the fact that Apple has been heavily dependent on Samsung behind the scenes and LG as well. Apple is exploring other opportunities with China’s BOE Technology Group. BOE has already been supplying Apple with screens for the iPad and MacBook since 2017. If everything goes according to plan, BOE will ultimately replace Samsung as the primary source for OLED displays for the iPhone 2020.
