Although new iPhones were just announced, that doesn’t mean we can’t start looking ahead to what’s in store for next year! An investor note from analyst Ming-chi Kuo indicates that the 2022 iPhone lineup will have some substantial changes to the camera system, with the Pro range using a larger 48-megapixel sensor for the primary camera. These sensors have been common in Android phones, but the Apple version is expected to be larger than average. This high-res sensor should be able to capture 8K video.
Other notable changes to the iPhone lineup include:
- 2023 iPhones may use Face ID sensors under the screen to get rid of the notch.
- The 2022 iPhone lineup will have a reduction in screen size options, as Apple is expected to eliminate the Mini, which hasn’t been performing as well as anticipated.
- The iPhone will begin to use an under-display Face ID system and fingerprint scanners in 2023.
