After a year long battle, the merger between T-Mobile and Sprint has finally been approved by the Department of Justice (DOJ).  The FCC was already on board, but the deal was unable to move forward until the DOJ agreed as well. The agreement was reached that the two companies would be allowed to move forward, if they made Dish the fourth viable wireless carrier competitor by transferring them a portion of their assets. The satellite TV service provider will acquire Boost Mobile, Virgin Mobile, Sprint’s prepaid business, and specific spectrum assets as well.  Although everything seems like it is in the clear after the DOJ signed off on the deal, there might still be one more obstacle down the road. Multiple state attorneys filed lawsuits and are opposing the merger. If they just so happen to win in court they can overturn the deal and the two companies will not be allowed to continue with their merger or will likely have to disband.
